Mary was born in 1845 in Atherstone, Warwickshire.  Mary's father was Samuel SHILTON and her mother was Elizabeth (UNKNOWN).  Her paternal grandparents were Samuel SHILTON and Sarah (UNKNOWN). She had two sisters named Alice and Emily.  She was the youngest of the three children.
