Althea was born in 1912 in New Jersey. Althea's father was Maurice Reid and her mother was Jennie Crammer (Reid). Her maternal grandparents were William Henry Crammer and Mary Turney (Crammer). She has a sister named Elenore. She is the older of the two children.
