Rosalie was born on October 6th, 1831.  Rosalie's father was Joseph Mire and her mother was Clarisse Arceneaux.  Her paternal grandparents were Joachim  (Bénoni) dit Bénoni Lemire and Madeleine Melançon; her maternal grandparents were Pierre Arsenault and Elizabeth Fontenot. She had three brothers and seven sisters, named Theodule, Dominique, Paul, Adelard, Claire, Marie, Elizabeth, Adelaide, Marguerite and Madeleline.  She was the youngest of the eleven children.
