In 1900 Census the Slaters were close neighbors to the August Grafs.
William H. Slater is shown as head of household in Scott County Indiana- (1910 Census)
In 1920 Census he is listed as father-in-law to head of house, J.O. Scott - Scottsburg, Scott Co, Indiana.
William H Slater does not appear in 1930 Census.

1.  William1 Slater was born June 1857 in Indiana, and died Aft. 1900.  He married Kate Josephine ??? (Source: William F. Graf, Graf, William F.,  (Found on Internet May 7, 2006 at Ancestry.com), "Electronic," Census 1900 for Salt Creek Twp. Jackson Co., IN gives name as Kate.) Abt. 1877.  She was born November 1857 in Iowa, and died November 03, 1908 in Salt Creek Twp., Jackson Co., Indiana. (Source: Jackson Co. Death Records, Book H28, page 19..).

Census 1: 1900, Salt Creek Township (Spraytown area), Jackson County, Indiana.  Farmer.  Father born in Germany, mother in Ohio.
Note 1: March 19, 1893, Superintendent of Sabboth School of St. John's Evangelical German Church in Spraytown.  Was probably mentioned in records before this time, however it was pasted over with newspaper clippings about remedies. In 1894 the new Superintendent was Mr.
Note 2: Huber, and Wm. Slater was assistant superintendent.  There is mention that he had 14 scholars in his class. In particular, on 9-23-1894, the lesson was on Abstinence, from Daniel chapter 1, vs. 8-20.  Collection was 27 cents.  No mention is ever made of
Note 3: Mrs. Slater, even when parents present were listed.
Note 4: Is it possible that he was born in Dearborn County, Indiana, to Fredrick and Sarah Slater?  Their neighbors in Spraytown were originally from Dearborn County.

Burial: not in any marked graves in Salt Creek or Pershing Twp, nor White's Chapel.
Census 1: 1900, Her father was born in Maryland, her mother in Iowa.
Note 1: There are MANY unmarked graves in the cemeteries around Spraytown - hundreds of them.  Check obit in Brownstown Banner for clues.
