William Longespée, 1st Earl of Salisbury was born between 1160 and 1170.
He was the son of Henry II 'Curtmantle' d'Anjou, King of England and Rosamund Clifford.
He married Ela, Countess of Salisbury, daughter of William FitzPatrick de Saresbury, Earl of Salisbury and Eleanor de Vitri, circa 1196.
He died in 1226 in Mansourah, Egypt.
He was also reported to have died on 7 March 1226 in Salisbury Castle.
