Mathila was born about 1134.¹ Mathila's father was Meinhard of Sponheim and her mother was Countess Mathilde of Mhorsberg. Her paternal grandparents were Count Stefan of Sponheim and Baroness Sofie von Hamm; her maternal grandparents were Count Adalbert of Morsberg and <Unknown>.
