Francis was born on September 20th, 1829 in Big Clifty, Grayson Co., Kentucky.⁴   He died at the age of 77 in 1906 in Breckenridge Co., Kentucky.  His burial was in Rosetta United Methodist Church Cemetery, Breckinridge Co., Kentucky (cross the road from the Rosetta Church at Rosetta. on the banks of Sinking Creek. (Breckinridge Co. Cemeteries Vol. I)).⁴
