Robert was born about 1102.1   Robert's father was Hubert de Vaux and his mother was Grecia.  His paternal grandparents were Robert de Vaux and de Munchesney. He had two brothers named Eustace and Ranulph.  He was the oldest of the three children.  He died in 1195.1
