Simon was born in 1025 in Hainaut, Montfort, France.1  Simon's father was Amauri de Montfort and his mother was Bertrada de Gometz.  His paternal grandparents were William de Montfort and <Unknown>; his maternal grandparents were Guillaume de Gometz and <Unknown>.  He was an only child.  He died at the age of 62 in 1087 in Eperon, France.1
