Robert, known as The Marshall, was born in 1037 in Venoix near Caen, Calvados, Normandy, France.1   The Marshall's father was Ralf de Venoix and his mother was <Unknown>.  His paternal grandparents were Miles de Venoix and Lesceline.  He was an only child.  He died after 1086 in Hastings, Sussex, England.2
