Manassess was born in 1010 in Dammartine-en-Goele, Seine-Et-Marne, France.1   Manassess' father was Count Hildouin of Montdidier and his mother was <Unknown>.  His paternal grandparents were Count Helpuin of Arcis-sur-Aube and Hersende de Ramerupt. He had a brother and a sister, named Hildouin and Adelaide.  He was the youngest of the three children.  He died as a war casualty, seige of Bar-le-Duc, at the age of 47 on November 15th, 1057 in Bar-le-Duc, Lorraine, France.1
