Geoffrey was born in 1095 in Kenilworth Castle, Warwickshire, England.¹ Geoffrey's father was Ralph de Tankerville and his mother was Agnes Stigand. His paternal grandparents were Gerard de Tankerville and Helisinde; his maternal grandparents were Eudes Stigand and <Unknown>. He had two brothers named William and Osbert. He was the second oldest of the three children. He died at the age of 35 in 1130.²
