Thomas' father was Edward Watts and his mother was Anne. His paternal grandparents were Edward Watts II and Anne Martin. He had four brothers named Edward, David, William and John. He was the oldest of the five children. He died at the age of 58 in March 1748 in Culpeper, Virginia.¹
