John O. WALLINGFORD 
John O.'s father was Zimri Scates WALLINGFORD and his mother was Alta Lucy HILLIARD. His paternal grandparents were Samuel WALLINGFORD and Sarah WOOSTER. He had two sisters named Mary C. and Julia. He died on March 23rd, 1872 in Dover, Strafford Co., New Hampshire.1 General Notes
DEATH: From disease contracted during war service.
BIOGRAPHY: Sergeant-major and lieutenant in 15th New Hampshire Volunteers; he was severely wounded in the assault on Port Hudson. Later he was captain in the 18th New Hampshire and was an officer of great merit.
