Mary Shirley

Mary was born in 1550 in Staunton Harrold, Breedon, Leicestershire, England. Mary's father was Francis Shirley and her mother was Dorothy Giffard. Her paternal grandparents were Ralph Shirley and Jane Sheffield; her maternal grandmother was Dorothy Montgomery. She had four brothers and four sisters, named John, Edward, Arthur, Ralph, Elizabeth, Cassandra, Alice and Anne. She was the third youngest of the nine children.
