William was born in 1720 in Prince Georges Co., Maryland.1  William's father was Samuel Scott and his mother was <Unknown>.  He was an only child.  He died at the age of 74 in 1794 in Bedford Co., Virginia.1 

William's family with Lucretia (Lucy) James

William and Lucy were married in a religious ceremony in 1752 in Halifax, Virginia.2   They had eleven sons and a daughter, named Thomas, William, Charles, Acton, John, George, James, Evan, Joseph, Obediah, Peter and Sarah.
