Alexander Scott

Alexander was born on July 20th, 1686 in Dipple, Eligin Parish, Scotland.¹ Alexander's father was Rev. John Scott and his mother was Helen Grant. He had two brothers named Samuel and James. He was the youngest of the three children. He died at the age of 51 on April 1st, 1738 in Virginia.¹

  Ordained by the Bishop of London, Scott was sent to Virginia in 1710 to be minister for the parish of Overwharton. Unwilling to settle for a clergy residence, Scott established a home on the Potomac which he called "Dipple", after the parish in Scotland where his father was from. (C.H. Brent)
