Benjamin Owen SKAGGS 
Benjamin Owen was born on November 17th, 1833 in Green Co. KY. Benjamin Owen's father was John C. SKAGGS and his mother was Lucinda SHOFNER. His paternal grandparents were David Skaggs and Margaret "Peggy". He had six sisters named Sarah Ann, Polly A., Jane, Caroline, Nancy and Celia. He was the fourth oldest of the seven children. He died at the age of 80 on July 31st, 1914 in Taylor Co. KY. He was buried in Poplar Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery, Taylor Co. KY.General Notes
Benjamin's name is recorded in Taylor Co. KY Order Book, Page327,dated Oct. 1854. It reads as follows: "It appearing tothesatisfaction of the court that Benjamin Skaggs is a minorand that hisfather has listed his property for the presentyear, said BenjaminSkaggs is therefore released from payingrevenue tax and county levyfor the present year, he having beenimproperly listed. It is orderedthat the sheriff have creditby the amount of tax upon said Skaggs listof property in hissettlement withthe auditor and also by the tax uponand thesettling with this court."
