Lucy was born on October 28th, 1742 in Virginia.1   Lucy's father was William Pennington and her mother was Mary. She had a brother and three sisters, named Sack, Elizabeth, Sarah and Betty.  She was the third oldest of the five children.

Lucy and John were married in a religious ceremony on September 29th, 1758 in Brunswick Co., Virginia.1   They had five sons and eight daughters, named Benjamin, Zachariah, John, William, Jesse, Mary, Frances, Sarah, Martha, Elizabeth, Rebeckah, Lucy and Nancy.
