Gundred was born about 1140 in Brampton, Devonshire, England.1   Gundred's father was Fulk de Paynel and her mother was Aude de Abrincis.  Her paternal grandparents were de Paynel and <Unknown>.  She was an only child.  She died in 1216.1

Gundred and Matthew were married before 1160.1   They had a son named William.
