Amos Garth was born in 1857 in Tazewell Co., IL.. Amos Garth's father was Simeon NORMAN and his mother was Sarah A. NICKOLS. His paternal grandparents were Benjamin NORMAN Jr. and Charlotte LIGGET. He had four brothers and four sisters, named Benjamin, John S., Charles A., Edward P., Malinda, Sarah, Charlotte and Susan M.. He was the third oldest of the nine children.
