Sallie Murphy 
Sallie was born on August 10th, 1850. Sallie's father was John Murphy and her mother was Elizabeth R Parrish. Her paternal grandparents were Ezekiel Murphy and Martha Smith. She had three brothers and two sisters, named James Knox Polk, George Mifflin Dallas, William Wayne, Martha Caroline and C. She was the second youngest of the six children. She died at the age of 102 on April 8th, 1953 in Rutherford County TN. She was buried on April 9th, 1953 in Evergreen Cemetery Murfreesboro TN.1 General Notes

Funeral Register/Certificate of Death indicates she was a housekeeper. possibly owned her home (not clear). Funeral cost $252.00 by Jennings and Ayers Funeral Home.
According to Jessie Murphy, Sallie was in the family home on the Nashville Highway (later the Old Nashville Highway) adjacent to the Stones River Battlefield at the time of the Battle. The home was used as a hospital, but it is unclear which army utilized the home. The house burned down some time in the early 80's.
Her nickname was "Miss Puss" because she always had a sour puss.
