Reed was born about 1782 in Westmoreland, Pennsylvana.1   Reed's father was Robert McGrew and his mother was Dorothy Graham. He had two brothers and a sister, named Robert, Joseph and Ann.  He died on January 5th, 1856 in Grayson County, Kentucky.1 

Reed's family with Mary (Polly) Fulkerson

Reed and Polly were married in a religious ceremony on May 5th, 1803 in Mercer County, Kentucky.1  They had eight sons and five daughters, named Robert, John, Willis, Parmenas, Andrew, Oliver, James, Valentine, Sarah, Elmina, Margaret, Mary and Elizabeth.
