Owen Brogyntyn ap was born in 1125 in Mechoin, Montgomeryshire, Wales. Owen Brogyntyn ap's father was Madog ap Maredydd Prince of Powys and his mother was Susanna verch Gruffydd. His paternal grandparents were Maredudd ap Bleddyn Prince of Powys and Hunydd verch Einudd. He had a brother and three sisters, named Gruffydd Maelor ap, Gwenllian verch, Marared verch and Eva verch. He had two half-brothers named Brogyntyn and Cynwrig Efell ap. He died at the age of 63 in 1188.General Notes
