Austin was born in 1908 in Woodford Co., KY.. Austin's father was James William KING and his mother was Hannah SHARP. His paternal grandparents were Willis Riley KING and Martha Jane MILLER. He had two brothers and four sisters, named William E., Floyd, Louise, Elizabeth, Florence and Dorothy. He was the fourth oldest of the seven children. He had two half-brothers and a half-sister, named Virgil, James Edward and Julia Dell.-
