Sir William Douglas 4th Lord of Drumlanrig 
William was born in 1436 in Drumlanrig Castle, Durisdeer, Nithsdale, Dumfriesshire, Scotland.1 William's father was William Douglas and his mother was Margaret Carlyle. His paternal grandparents were William Douglas and Jean Maxwell; his maternal grandparents were William Carlyle and Elizabeth Kirkpatrick. He was an only child. He died as a war casualty, Battle of Kirtle, at the age of 48 on July 22nd, 1484 in Kirtle, Lochmaben, Dumfriesshire, Scotland.1 General Notes
