William S. was born in May 1869 in Elizabethtown, Hardin Co., Kentucky.1 William S.'s father was Alfred BUCKLES and his mother was Susan Elizabeth BOARMAN. His paternal grandparents were John Buckles and Belinda HART. He had six brothers and three sisters, named Joseph L., James Francis, Sylvester L., John K., Charles Ignatius, Francis R., Mary Belinda, Leuva Ann and Sarah. He was the youngest of the ten children.-
