Julia Ann was born in 1845 in Orange Co, NC.1   Julia Ann's father was James Tilley and her mother was Temperance Roberts.  Her maternal grandparents were George Roberts and Nancy Mize. She had eight brothers and five sisters, named George William, Joel, Hinton Vance, James Sidney, Atlas, Emmett Harrison, Dock, Henry Adolphus, Minerva, Adeline, Nancy Caroline, Edna A. and Parthenia.  She was the sixth youngest of the fourteen children.1
