Adolphus Abner Pleasant was born on August 3rd, 1878 in Chapel Hill, Orange Co, NC.  Adolphus Abner Pleasant's father was Hinton Vance Tilley and his mother was Susan Ann Virginia Leigh.  His paternal grandparents were James Tilley and Temperance Roberts. He had five brothers and five sisters, named George Hinton Vance, Phyletius Brooks, James Sidney Richard, William Lucus, John Wesley Newton, Robena Ann, Cora Jane, Mary Emma, Genera Alma and Ada Demarius.  He was the third youngest of the eleven children.  He died at the age of 93 on October 13th, 1971 in Durham, Durham Co, NC.  He was buried on October 14th, 1971 in Maplewood Cemetery, Durham, Durham Co, NC.
