James Pleasant was born on May 6th, 1862 in Doyle, White Co, TN.  James Pleasant's father was Pleasant E. Adair and his mother was Nancy Jane Simmons.  His maternal grandparents were James Simmons Jr. and Margaret Plumlee. He had four sisters named Lucinda, Tabitha Jane, Margaret 'Maggie' and Hallie A..  He was the third oldest of the five children.  He died at the age of 82 on March 16th, 1945 in Doyle, White Co, TN.
