Hildegard was born about 1035 in Henneberg, Sachsen-Meiningen, Thuringia.1   Hildegard's father was Count Ludwig (mit Dem Barte) of Thuringia and her mother was Countess Cacilie of Sangerhausen. She had a brother named der Salier.  She was the older of the two children.
