Demudis was born about 1106 in Laurenburg, Hessen-Nassau, Prussia.1   Demudis' father was Count Dudo of Laurenburg and her mother was Countess Irmgard of Arnstein.  Her maternal grandparents were Count Ludwig of Arnstein I and <Unknown>. She had two brothers named Ruprecht and Arnold.  She was the youngest of the three children.
