Maud was born about 1187 in Edlington & Newborough, Yorkshire, England.1   Maud's father was High Sheriff Robert le Vavasour and her mother was Juliane Ross.  Her paternal grandparents were William Vavasour and Matilda Perry; her maternal grandparents were Gilbert de Ros and Julian. She had a brother named John.  She died before 1226 in Hazelwood, Yorkshire, England.1
