Ida was born about 1110 in Brabant, Netherlands.1   Ida's father was Duke of Lower Lorraine Godfrey (The Bearded) of Brabrant and her mother was Ida de Chiny.  Her paternal grandparents were Count Henry de Louvain II and Countess Adelaide von Betuwe; her maternal grandparents were Otto de Chiny II and Adelaide de Namur. She had a brother and a sister, named Godfrey and The Fair Maid.  She was the youngest of the three children.  She died in 1163.2
