Robert de Ferrers

Robert was born in 1062 in Ferrers, Derbyshire, England.¹

Robert's father was Henry de Ferrers and his mother was Bertha de l' Aigle. His paternal grandparents were Walchelin de Ferrers and <Unknown>; his maternal grandparents were Engenulph de l' Aigle and Richeride. He had a sister named Amice. He was the older of the two children. He died at the age of 77 in 1139 in Charterley, Staffordshire, England.

      Robert de Ferrers, having contributed, at the head of the Derbyshire men, to King Stephen's victory over King David of Scotland at Northallerton (commonly called the battle of the Standard), was created by that monarch Earl of Derby. By Hawise
