Sibyl was born about 1085 in Rudham, Norfolk, England.1   Sibyl's father was Ralph de Chesney and her mother was Maude de Waterville.  Her paternal grandparents were Walter de Caen and <Unknown>; her maternal grandparents were William de Waterville and <Unknown>. She had four brothers named Ralph, William, Roger and Philip.  She was the youngest of the five children.
