Susan Scott

Susan was born about 1741 in Lunenburg Co., Virginia. Susan's father was John Scott and her mother was <Unknown>. She was an only child. She died after 1783 in Virginia or Kentucky.¹

  The information about Susan and her family is from LDS sources. There is no data which covers her death. Because Solomon is thought to be their child her death is assumed to have occured after 1783, but when or where is not known. However it is interesting to note that the births of the known children were strange. There is a gap of about 7 years between Benjamin and Peter and 8 years between James and Marshall. It is wondered if there are other children who did not live to maturity or are missing from the records.
  
  There are several Despains listed in New England in the 1830 and 1850 censuses which are unaccounted for...Joseph Despain and Samuel Despain 1830 Census: Grafton, Worcester Co, MA page 213; John Despain 1850 Census: Fairfax, Franklin Co, VT. It has now been concluded that these Despains are not from John and Susan's line.
