Thomas was born about 1748.1   Thomas' father was Edward Pate and his mother was Martha Tinsley.  His paternal grandparents were John Pate and Judith Christian; his maternal grandparents were Thomas Tinsley and Martha Ragland. He had four brothers and a sister, named Matthew, Anthony, Jeremiah, John and Judith.  He was the fifth oldest of the six children.  He died on June 20th, 1825 in Breckinridge Co., Kentucky.1
