Osbern was born about 1059 in Arques-la-Bataille, Seine-Inferieure, Normandy, France.¹ Osbern's father was William d'Arques and his mother was Beatrice de Bolebec. His paternal grandparents were Godfroi d' Arques and Amelie de Rouen; his maternal grandparents were Vicomte d'Arques Geoffrey De Bolbec and Beatrice. He had a half-sister named Maud. He died in 1116 in Thorpe Arche, Yorkshire, England.¹
