Burr Harris Burke

Burr was born on January 31st, 1897 in Louisville, Jefferson Co., Kentucky and his baptism took place in 22nd and Walnut Street Baptist Church.¹

Birth Notes
- Baptized at 22nd and Walnut St. Baptist Church, but moved his membership to Baptist Tabernacle Church in 1913. Moved with his parents and siblings to Shepherdsville in 1916. Church records of that year show he moved his membership from Baptist Tabernacle Church to Bullitt Lick Baptist Church, located in Shepherdsville.

Burr's father was John Burke and his mother was Fanny Ella Ferguson. His paternal grandparents were John Patrick Burke and Mary Ann Ingram; his maternal grandparents were Levy Ferguson and Jane Foster. He had three brothers and four sisters, named Jesse, Almer, John, Rachel, Mary, Ada and Laura. He was the sixth oldest of the eight children.²

General Notes
- Burr was a tenant farmer, so the family lived on several different properties within Bullitt County. Burr and Myrtle had ten children.
