Narrative
The Honorable Robert Bolling is the founder of the family in Virginia.He arrived in the Colony October 2, 1660, and soon attained to fortuneand prominence in affairs of both Church and State. In 1858, hisremains were removed from "Kippax" to the mausoleum at BlandfordCemetery, erected by his great grandson. He married first to JaneRolfe, in 1675. She died in 1676. She was the daughter of LieutenantThomas and Jane Poythress Rolfe, and the great-granddaughter ofColonel John Rolfe, and his wife, the Indian Princess Pocahontas(christened Rebecca). Pocahontas was the daughter of Powhatan, thegreat Werowance chieftain and ruler of all the Indian tribes, which atthe advent of the English inhabited Virginia.
