Event Note
William was part of Company G, 46th GA Regiment. He went into theGettysburg battle and lost July 1863. He then went into action in theGeorgia campaign and was wounded in the battle of Atlanta (July 17 to22, 1864). He was treated at a field hospital in Macon, GA and inSeptember was sent home on sick furlough until October, at which timehe was cut off from his unit (Sherman in Savannah, December 1864).Company G surrendered May 1865 at Greensboro, NC. He surrendered May10, 1865 at Tallahassee, FL and was paroled May 18, 1865 at Albany,GA.
