Narrative
On November 12, 1758, William is listed on the muster roll of Captian John Dagworthy of Maryland during the French and Indian War. Captain William Cromwell's company in 1776 was ordered to constitute the gun powder for the 10th battalion. Revolutionary war records reveal that William received depreciation pay on May 2, 1782 and July 13, 1785. William owned and transacted several plantations in Maryland, Virginia, and Kentucky. William and Chloe moved to Halifax County, Virginia in 1780 and to Kentucky in the early 1790's. He and his sons: Joshuea and Oliver operated a ferry across the Kentucky river. In June 1805. William placed a notice in the Kentucky Gazette that he was longer responsible for the debts of Chloe as she had left his bed and board. Two months later, William signed an article of agreement with sons Joshua and Richard to provide for Chloe. William died in 1822 in Jessamine County, Kentucky. They had nine children.
