Josiah's date of birth is questioned. Also, he is a 'supposed' child of Nathaniel Loomis, #28.

There is other conflicting evidence about his life. Dr. Elias Loomis, the originator of the Loomis Family in America, has Abigail Atherton, the wife of Jerijah Loomis, #142, marrying Josiah instead. The following is the original description of that family:
Josiah Loomis, married August 13, 1735, Abigail Atherton, Bolton. Children:
#416 - Abigail Loomis, Born August 9, 1737. Married May 24, 1764, Benjamin Trumbull. She died February 25, 1810.
#417 - Prudence Loomis, Born April 11, 1739. Married March 3, 1757, Zephaniah
Thayer.
#418 - Josiah Loomis, Born March 24, 1741, Bolton, CT
#419 - Ruth Loomis, Born February 19, 1746

From the note written by the Loomis Family in America's current editor, John E Loomis:
"The Bolton Ch. Records, by Rev. Thomas Smith, gives above date for family of Jerijah Loomis, and as to the family of Josiah, #143, I firmly believe that Dr. Elias
Loomis' deductions are wrong, and that there is but one family, that of Jerijah."


I am going to follow John Loomis' logic and effectively cancel the family of Josiah Loomis from this Genealogy. As a matter of record, though, here are the descendants of Josiah Loomis, #418:
