Obituary --

Mrs. Leola Huyck, 68, of Exira, died early Sunday morning at the Audubon
County Memorial Hospital in Audubon, hwere she was admitted Tuesday, Jan.
15.

The daughter of William and Ella Judd White, she was born Aug. 15, 1905 in
Cass County. Mrs. Huyck taught elementary school in Cass and Audubon
counties and the Amana Colonies until her retirement. She was married to
Chester Scherick who died some time ago. She then married James W. Huyck
April 9, 1939, in Atlantic. He died in 1966. Mrs. Huyck was a graduate of
the Atlantic High School and Drake University and was a member of the
Exira Christian Church.

Surviving are a son, Ronald Scherick of Texas; a grandson: two
step-daughters, Elsie Markley of Exira and Mrs. Neil (Ella) Markley of
Livermore, Calif.; a step-son, Elmer Huyck of Muskegee, Okla.; eight
step-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Exira Christian
Church, with Rev. Thomas Carpe officiating. Interment was in the Exira
Cemetery.
