John was born about 1714 in Medfield,Norfolk,Massachusetts.1   John's father was Nathaniel Wight and his mother was Mehitable Hinsdale. He had four brothers and three sisters, named Eliphalet, Levi, Israel, Uzziel, Mehitable, Deborah and Sarah.  He was the fourth oldest of the eight children.1
