Benjamin Newberry 
Benjamin was born about 1624 in Yarcombe, Devon, England.1 Benjamin's father was Thomas Newberry and his mother was Joanne Dabinot. His paternal grandfather was Richard Newberye; his maternal grandparents were John Dabinott and Joanna Collins. He had three brothers and five sisters, named Joseph, Thomas, John, Sarah, Mary, Rebecca, Hannah and Sarah. He had a half-brother and three half-sisters, named Samuel, Abigail, Hepzibah and Esther. He died on September 11th, 1689 in Windsor, Hartfort, Connecticut.2 General Notes

Benjamin Newberry/Newbury bought original William Philps lot in 1642 and sold it 1649 to Anthony Dorchester. In 1660/1, he was witness for the annual estimate of Town Expenses. 4 Sep 1684, was witness for the will of Mrs Abigail Warham along with Mary M. Newberry & Abigail C. Newberry. In 1684, was on committee chosen to build a new meeting house for the worship of God. He was on the Court of Assistants 1685-90; at Court of Sessions Hartford 1687/8 during the Andros Gov. Court in Town. He was on committees for the finding of a new minister in 1678/9; Capt. Newberry had a warehouse in Windsor in 1679 on the north side of the Rivulet, near the ferry. He purchased considerable land on the east side of the river ca.1672; between Poduck River and Scantic River on the Conn. he owned 10 rods, going in east 3 miles bound north by Thomas Dewey; S. by John Newberry; also 2 1/2 rods on the Conn. toward Podunk, one acre meadow land; 78 r. from river E. to swamp (these are in what is now South Windsor).
Benjamin, Deputy from Windsor 1656-65, Commissioner for MA & RI boundries 1664; Capt.1662 in command of a troop of Dragooners in 1668, armed with half-pikes and pistols. The Council of War at Hartford on 20 May 1676, ordered 80 men to be sent up to Northampton, under Capt. Benj. Newberry on Monday 22 May.
