Richard Lyman 
Richard was born on October 30th, 1580 in High Ongar, Essex, England.1 Richard's father was Henry Lyman and his mother was Elizabeth Rande. His paternal grandparents were John Lyman and Margaret Gerard; his maternal grandparents were Peter Rande and Joan. He had a brother and four sisters, named Henry, Judith, Jane, Sarah Mary and Agnes. He died at the age of 61 on September 6th, 1642 in Hartford, CT.1 General Notes

Richard was the first Lyman to come from England. He came in Nov 1631 with his wife, Sarah, and five children. They all removed to Hartford in 1635, and Richard died there in 1640, between Apr 22, and Sept 10. His widow died before 1643. They were both members of the church at Roxbury under the care of Rev. John Eliot. The three sons were all among the first settlers of Northampton, about 1655, and they all lived and died there.
