John was born on August 30th, 1707.1   John's father was Nathan Hurlbut and his mother was Mary Blinn.  His paternal grandparents were Samuel Hurlbut and Mary Unknown; his maternal grandfather was Peter Blinn. He had five brothers and four sisters, named Peter, Hezekiah, Samuel, Nathaniel, Gideon, Anne, Mary, Elizabeth and Thankfull.1
