Jonathan Gillett: Jonathan Gillett and brother Nathan, died 5 Sep 1689, who migrated to America gave children names reminiscent of the other Chaffcombe Gilletts. Their father was probably Willam Gylett of Somerset England who was the Rector of Chaffcombe all of his adult life. The brothers probably came to America on the "Mary & John" which arrived in Nantucket 30 May 1620. The passengers settled at Mattapan which was renamed Dorchester. Jonathan was a bachelor in 1630 and must have returned to Engalnd for a short time during which he married. The wedding took place at Colyton. They returned to America on the "Recovery" of London and brought with them a bible dated 1599. In this bible "My father Gille (tt) came to New Inglan the secon time in June in the yeare 1634 and Jonathan his sonne was born about one half yeares after he came to land.
